No Insurance Tickets
Driving without insurance tickets should not be taken lightly. Though not a criminal charge, it is one of the worst tickets you can get. In New York the consequences for a conviction of driving without insurance are severe. If you plead guilty or are ultimately convicted of driving without insurance in the Riverhead Town Court Court, your license will be revoked for a period of 1 year. You will also receive a fine of at least $100, an $85 surcharge, and you will be required to pay a $750 civil penalty to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The outcome of a insurance ticket depends on a number of factors including whether an accident was involved, other tickets received along with the no insurance ticket, whether you owned the vehicle, the prosecutor is handling the case, and whether you are able to show proof that the vehicle was insured at the time of the stop.
While I am often able to get these tickets dismissed, or at least, reduced, I have many times sat in other courts and watched while a defendant appeared in court without an attorney and plead guilty to a no insurance ticket that I knew could have been dismissed or at very least reduced.
NO ONE SHOULD EVER PLEAD GUILTY TO A NO INSURANCE TICKET
WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING WITH AN ATTORNEY
