Points are assessed against your driving record are based on the date of violation not the date of conviction. If you accumulate 11 or more points within an 18 month period, your license will be suspended or revoked.  You can reduce up to four points from your driving record and save up to 10% on your auto liability insurance premiums by completing a DMV approved accident prevention course.

You can use the point reductions once every 18 months.  If you have already taken the accident prevention course within 18 months, regardless of whether you received a point reduction, you will not be able to reduce any points by taking the program again until a year has passed.  Also, you can not apply the point reduction as a credit against future points.
NO ONE SHOULD EVER PLEAD GUILTY TO POINTS VIOLATION
WITHOUT FIRST CONSULTING WITH AN ATTORNEY
